A Jefferson County Court trial is set to begin Monday morning in the case of a Glen Park man alleged to have threatened a woman with a knife.

Jack C. Yates, 57, faces first- and second-degree burglary charges, as well as third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing. The counts were contained in a grand jury indictment handed up in March. It is alleged that on May 9, 2012, in Watertown he unlawfully entered the East Hoard Street apartment of Kimberly Sargent and threatened her with a knife.

Mr. Yates was convicted of second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance in March 1991 and sentenced to a prison term of 15 years to life. He was discharged from prison in January 2006, according to the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
