Five teenagers were arrested by state police on burglary charges involving break-ins in Antwerp and Evans Mills.
Garrick C. Cook, 19, of 37630 Waite Road, Antwerp, and Matthew R. Simpson, 19, of 27094 Wilson Road, Theresa, were charged Friday with second-degree burglary.
They were accused of breaking into an Antwerp residence on Carpenter Road and taking several thousand dollars in coins. The thefts were reported to state police Sept. 6.
Three other teens and Mr. Cook also face second-degree burglary charges in connection with a break-in at 25702 Keyser Road in Evans Mills. Besides Mr. Cook, charged in that incident were Joshua J. Laclair, 17, of 28796 Route 37, Evans Mills; David A. Morin, 18, of 26168 Route 17, Evans Mills, and Connor R. Brown, 16, of 2520 County Route 17, Evans Mills.
No other information was made available about that burglary. Any further information about the connection between the two burglaries remained unclear Saturday night.
Mr. Cook, Mr. Morin and Mr. Brown were taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, each on $10,000 bail, while Mr. Laclair is there on $5,000 bail and Mr. Simpson was released on his own recognizance.
