The case of a DePeyster man arrested Tuesday in Ogdensburg on weapons charges will be heard by a St. Lawrence County grand jury.

Dalton M. Perry, 19, of 4384 Route 10, waived his right Friday to a preliminary hearing in city court.

He is charged with felony third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, misdemeanor fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and remains in St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, without bail - it was $50,000 cash bail/$100,000 bond - because of a probation violation.

The charges were for the alleged possession of two semi-automatic handguns and a U.S. government-issue protective armor vest valued at $2,655.

Ogdensburg police are also investigating the presence of numerous other firearms that were discovered earlier this week at a relative’s home in the city. They included several rifles, semi-automatic assault rifles, handguns, three .22 caliber weapons, a .243 rifle, a .300 caliber rifle, two shotguns, ammunition and high-capacity clips.

Police are still investigating and more arrests and charges are possible.

“We’ll look at the evidence and if more charges are appropriate, there’ll be more charges,” said Assistant District Attorney Viacheslav Mareyev.

Mr. Perry’s attorney wants more information on the origins of theweapons.

“I don’t know what belongs to him at this point,” said Gary R. Alford of Ogdensburg.
