LOUISVILLE — State police arrested a man and a woman Monday and charged them with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument, both class A misdemeanors.

Christopher A. Delosh, 28, of 140 Liberty Ave., Apt. 2, Massena, and Elizabeth K. Wickwire, 25, of 4241 Route 310, Norfolk, were arrested after police conducted a traffic stop on County Route 40 in the town of Louisville when driver Jason Monroe was stopped for an alleged seat belt violation. He was issued a traffic ticket returnable in Louisville Town Court..

While interviewing Mr. Delosh, police learned that a warrant for his arrest had been issued out of Potsdam Town Court for the alleged July 21 theft of security cameras from Walmart in Potsdam. During a search, Mr. Delosh was found to be in possession of a hypodermic needle that police said was “fully loaded” with heroin. Upon further investigation, police discovered there was a second needle in the back seat of the vehicle along with a spoon that police said is commonly used to cook the narcotic.

Police said they found a hypodermic needle in Ms. Wickwire’s purse during a search.

Mr. Delosh and Ms. Wickwire were issued appearance tickets for Louisville Town Court.

Mr. Delosh additionally was charged with petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor, in connection with the warrant and a second petit larceny charge for an alleged Aug. 25 theft of two packages of men’s boxers from Walmart in Potsdam.

He was arraigned in Canton Town Court by Judge Christopher J. Curly on the petit larceny charges and was released under probation supervision. He is scheduled to reappear in Potsdam Town Court.
