I’m writing to ask you to join me in voting for Mary Ann Ashley for mayor of the village of Canton.

Mary Ann has proven her commitment to the village and its taxpayers. She has sat on 10 different committees with positive results for the taxpayers.

She was the driving force behind a five-year capital plan for the village, something previous boards didn’t think was important. She initiated a shared services committee with Jesse Coburn of the town board, which has resulted in several meetings with positive discussions.

Mary Ann has been working with Mike Dalton on the Audit Committee and had helped create more efficient systems with the budget officer. She has proven beyond a doubt that she believes in a streamlined, efficient government that serves the people, not itself.

I spoke with her at length before I decided to write this letter. As a voter, taxpayer and citizen of this community, you owe it to yourself to speak with Mary Ann. I guarantee that you will walk away impressed and ready to vote for her.

It’s time for change in the village of Canton. It’s time to move forward.

We can only do that with a forward-looking mayor, one who has vision and compassion. One who is concerned about all the taxpayers.

One who can and will work with the town toward shared services, one who has and will continue the push for economic development. We can no longer remain stagnant and think that is good enough. We need a strong, fair leader.

There is only one candidate running who meets these qualifications. Vote for Mary Ann Ashley for mayor of the village of Canton.
