I am addressing this letter to the gentleman at the Watertown Daily Times who took my phone call regarding the letter published in the paper titled Israelis pushing the myth on chemical weapons.
I called to raise my objections to the following passage in the letter, which I read aloud to the gentleman over the telephone:
Feel free to connect the dots yourself. But be careful to not implicate any Jews. They are granted protected status by the American government no matter what they do.
My objection: its offensive in its anti-Semitism, and his response: its merely political.
If I may, Id like to make a distinction between what might be construed as political (such as criticism of Israeli politics) and what might be considered anti-Semitic (such as calling up the tired claim that theres a Jewish conspiracy in the government).
I imagined a more thoughtful response from the Watertown Daily Times.
