ALEXANDRIA BAY — Alexandria Central School’s staff, students and district residents will get a chance to meet the three finalists for district superintendent on Monday.

Out of 13 applicants, the district Board of Education chose Douglas H. McQueer, Hammond Central School superintendent; Kyle L. Faulkner, middle-high school principal for Fillmore Central, and Julie A. Ludwig, secondary principal for Alexandria Central, as the most qualified candidates to succeed Superintendent Robert B. Wagoner Jr., who is retiring at the end of the year.

Mr. McQueer is a Hammond native and a 1980 graduate of Hammond Central School who spent his entire 18-year career in public education at Hammond Central, a rural district with about 340 students. He worked as a high school math teacher there from 1995 until he became the district’s superintendent in 2006.

Mr. Faulkner, Fillmore, is fifth- through 12th-grade principal at Fillmore Central, which has 735 students, where he started his 20-year career in public education. Before becoming a principal in 1999, he had taught seventh- through 12th-grade social studies at Fillmore Central since 1993.

Mrs. Ludwig, Henderson Harbor, was hired as Alexandria Central’s secondary principal last year. Before joining Alexandria Central School District, she worked as a school improvement specialist for the Jefferson-Lewis Board of Cooperative Educational Services. She began her career in education in 1998 as a middle school special-education teacher for the Baltimore (Md.) City Public Schools.

The district Board of Education has scheduled a 30-minute public interview session for each candidate Monday at Alexandria Central’s auditorium, 34 Bolton Ave. Mr. Faulkner’s session begins at 6 p.m., Mr. McQueer’s at 6:45 p.m. and Mrs. Ludwig’s at 7:30 p.m.
