State Education Commissioner John B. King Jr. will be the guest speaker during the fall dinner meeting of the Jefferson-Lewis School Boards Association at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1290 Arsenal St.
Representatives from school districts throughout Jefferson and Lewis counties will attend the invitation-only event.
According to the state Education Department website, Mr. King oversees more than 7,000 public and independent elementary and secondary schools and hundreds of other educational institutions. The former high school teacher and middle school principal has been a driving force in New Yorks successful Race to the Top application.
