LOWVILLE An Adams man was taken by helicopter to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, following a motorcycle crash Saturday on outer Stowe Street.
Lewis County sheriffs deputies said Timothy J. Rhue, 60, of Park Street, Adams, crashed his 2007 Yamaha motorcycle while traveling in a group of seven motorcycles at 6:31 p.m. Deputies said that Mr. Rhue was fourth in the line and that the crash happened when the group slowed to make a right turn. At that time, Mr. Rhue attempted to stop to avoid hitting the motorcycle ahead of him and skidded sideways before being ejected onto the side of the road.
Mr. Rhue, who suffered a head injury in the crash, was taken to the town of Adams Highway Department by Lewis County Search and Rescue, then flown by helicopter to the Syracuse hospital.
On Sunday afternoon, a nursing supervisor at the hospital listed Mr. Rhue in fair condition.
No tickets were issued; Lowville village police and fire department also assisted at the scene.
