NORFOLK Brandon D. Murphy, 19, of 2009 Sober St., was charged by state police with second-degree sex abuse of an individual under 14 years old, tampering with evidence, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful possession of marijuana and criminal sale of marijuana.
Police said that after responding to a domestic dispute in Norfolk between a mother and her 13-year-old daughter, the mother said she received a phone call from her daughters school on Friday, informing her that her daughter was absent for a few days in a row.
The daughter told police that she and her 12-year-old friend had stayed overnight at Mr. Murphys residence from Wednesday to Thursday.
Police said the daughter told her mother she was staying at her friends house and met her friend at Norfolk Library, where both girls were picked up by Mr. Murphy.
Police said Mr. Murphy sold the girls marijuana.
Police said that when they arrived at Mr. Murphys residence it was clear he tried to destroy evidence by burning the marijuana in a wood stove.
Mr. Murphy is being held without bail at St. Lawrence jail, Canton, and is scheduled to appear in Norfolk Town Court.
