LYONS FALLS Otis Technologies on Tuesday was awarded a $39.2 million Army contract to supply weapons cleaning kits, according to an announcement emailed Tuesday night by U.S. Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y.
The companys kit is a component of the Close Quarters Battle Kit used on the M4 and M16 family of small arms and works on all currently fielded 5.56mm, 9mm, 7.62mm and .45 caliber military weapons.
The estimated contract completion date is Sept. 23, 2016.
This massive Army award for Otis Products is great news and will go towards the production of improved weapons cleaning kits that are necessary to clean jammed weapons on the battlefield, Sen. Schumer said in a statement. I applaud the Army for this investment that will be a boost to Otis Products and Lewis County as a whole.
