State police have confirmed that a man reported missing last week in the Franklin County town of Duane is dead.
Christopher Moore, 45, Malone, was dropped off Wednesday afternoon on County Route 27 in Duane for a fishing trip, troopers said in a news release.
Moore was to be picked up in the same location later that afternoon, the release said. When Moore did not arrive, the state police were contacted for help in locating him.
State police responded to the call at 12:30 a.m. Thursday.
State Department of Environmental Conservation rangers, volunteers from the Duane Fire Department and Homeland Security aviation personnel also helped to search for Mr. Moore.
His body was found about 6:45 p.m. Thursday in a wooded area near County Route 27 after a nearly daylong search.
State Police Sgt. Joseph A. Tatro said there is no suspicion of foul play in Mr. Moores death. Sgt. Tatro said Mr. Moore was familiar with the Duane area.
Police said the investigation to determine the manner of Mr. Moores death is continuing.
