HEUVELTON - It took 26 minutes for Heuvelton’s offense to find the back of the net but once the Bulldogs did it was smooth sailing against Edwards-Knox which played very hard in a 7-0 setback on Stephanie Putney Field in NAC West Division play.
“We didn’t play a very good first half but our second was much better. Right now, Olivia St. Pierre is controlling and quarterbacking our offense very well,” said Heuvelton coach Gus Burns after HCS stayed unbeaten in divisional play at 4-0-1.
In the 26th minute, Maddie St. Pierre took a cornerkick from the leftside and found Hannah Thornhill on the top corner of the right box for a headball goal.
Logan Tallman sent Thornhill on a through ball for a goal three minutes later. Alexis Weidner scored in the 36th minute on a 18 yard blast after taking a short pass from Erin Kennedy.
Heuvelton went to score four second half goals against Kelsey White (13 saves).
Maddie St. Pierre found the net on a cornerkick in the 44th, Hannah Thornhill and Weidner each scored their second goal of the game in the 59th and 63rd minutes from Olivia St. Pierre and Maddie St. Pierre assisted on Karina Warren’s goal in the 65th.
Paige McCormick stopped six shots for the shutout.
Chateaugay 5, St. Regis Falls 1: Chad Stalter generated the first four goals of the game - three in the first half. Reid LaPlante, Dylan LaBare and Nick Ashley assisted on the first, third and fourth goals. LaPlante scored from Seth Young for the fifth Bulldog goal. Tyler Fraser found Louis Goodrow for a Saints goal.
Josh Trombley made four saves for Chateaugay (3-0). Mike Smith stopped six shots for St. Regis Falls (1-2-1).
Massena 3, Salmon River 2: The Raiders won 27-25, 14-25, 17-25, 25-19, 27-25.Krista Loran tallied 18 points and 11 kills for Massena while Maidline Thibault posted 14 points and three aces and Samanntha Villnave had nine points and six kills.
Jacalyn Lamica posted 24 sets, nine assists, and 16 points also for the winners. For Salmon River, Raven Oakes (14 service points and 16 kills), Brittany Brooks (12 service points and 4 assists), Wakie Mitchell (11 service points), Raylynn Sunday (10 service points and 15 assists), and Taylin David (12 service points) led the way.
Chateaugay 3, Chateaugay 0: The Bulldogs swept the Huskies 25-11, 25-17, 25-18.
Caitlin Miller paced the Bulldogs with 11 service points, four kills, two blocks and 10 assists while Kylie Hanley contributed 10 points and nine assists. Shelby Yanulavich finished with 10 points, four aces and five kills while Gracie Harrigan served up eight points with half coming via the ace. Kim Reville led the lady Bulldogs with seven kills. Janelle Heden paced Malone with seven service points with two aces while Rachel Lamica mustered just four points, all aces, two blocks and had 10 kills.
Potsdam 3, Canton 0: The Stoners swept Canton 25-13, 25-15, 25-8 on Tuesday.
Rachel Sanderson (2 kills, 3 assists 6 points served) and Cianna Willmart (1 kill, 3 points, 2 aces) led the Bears.
