MASSENA - A Massena woman was hospitalized Monday afternoon after being struck by a car and suffering what police called “serious, but non-life threatening injuries.”

Kristy Brainard, 37, of 184 North Main St. was struck by a car driven by Elizabeth Goodfellow, 32, of 88 Stoughton Ave., Massena, at 1:18 p.m. Monday.

Police said that Ms. Goodfellow had just turned left off of Ames Street and was headed south on North Main Street when the accident occurred not far from the intersection.

Ms. Brainard was transported by the Massena Volunteer Rescue Squad to Massena Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries to her head, back and legs.

Police said that their investigation is ongoing and as of Monday evening no tickets had been issued.

Police were aided on the scene by the Massena Volunteer Fire Department, as well as state police and the Massena Volunteer Rescue Squad.
