Donald L. Hassig, the Green Party candidate who received nearly 2 percent of the vote in the 2012, is set to announce a 2014 run for the 21st Congressional District at 1 p.m. Friday at the Clock Tower Plaza at Jefferson Community College.
During my 2012 NY-21 campaign, I repeatedly promised to run until I won ... This will be a campaign highlighted by love, creativity and beauty. I will be a member of the U.S. House of Representatives someday soon, Mr. Hassig said in a blog post announcing his run.
He joins Republicans Elise M. Stefanik, Willsboro, and Joseph M. Gilbert, DeKalb Junction, in challenging Rep. William L. Owens, D-Plattsburgh, for the 21st District seat.
Allen D. Dingman, a Cape Vincent resident, said Thursday that he was considering seeking the Republican nomination.
