FORT COVINGTON - The Salmon River Central School Board has named the district’s director of Special Education, Allen Gravell as interim high school principal He will fill the vacancy created when Brian LeBaron, Elmira, resigned days before he was scheduled to begin his career in the Franklin County school district.

The board will continue to review its options for filling high school principal’s post behind closed doors at Monday’s meeting. Board members believe that Mr. Gravell’s knowledge and experience from working in the school will make him a capable replacement until they are able to make a more permanent staffing decision.

Mr. LeBaron resigned Aug. 29, citing issues with his family and relocation, just three days after he had been appointed to the post. He played football at Syracuse University.
