An anonymous hacker disabled the Jefferson County Industrial Development Agencys website Wednesday, and it was still out of commission Monday evening.
A hacker got into it, disabled it, and left us a clue saying, Ha, ha, ha youve been hacked, and listing a name, CEO Donald C. Alexander said.
Meanwhile, the agency has tasked its website development firm, Ady-Voltedge of Madison, Wis., to crack the hackers code. The website, www.jcida.com, includes resources and statistics about the businesses community to attract new companies here. Agency documents also are released to the public, such as meeting agendas, public notices and economic studies.
I have to wonder what individual has enough time to go around and hack a website for a development organization, Mr. Alexander said. At the moment we cant alert the public about whats going on.
Mr. Alexander is optimistic the website will be running again by the end of the week.
