WATERBURY Mr. Peter Petey A. Sciarra, age 83, passed away on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013 at his home. He was the husband of Helen (Edus) Sciarra.
Mr. Sciarra was born on Sept. 10, 1929, son of the late Giacomo and Maria (Ermieri) Sciarra. He attended Leavenworth High School and was a proud U.S. Army veteran during the Korean Conflict, where he served in Company C, 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division.
Pete worked as a pipe fitter for M.J. Daleys for many years. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Lucys Church.
Pete was a man of simple tastes. Family was very important to him and he loved spending time with them. He was an avid deep sea fisherman and enjoyed watching baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. Pete was very lucky especially on his trips to the casino.
In addition to his wife Helen of Pittsfield, Mass., Pete leaves behind his daughter, Dianne Heckman and her husband Clifford, of Pittsfield, Mass. and his granddaughter, Kimberly Heckman of Boston, Mass. He is also survived by his brother, Alfredo Sciarra and his sister, Louise Ciarlo, both of Waterbury; his niece Maria Tatasciore and her husband Joe, of West Hartford and his nephew, Thomas Ciarlo and his wife Lisa, of Wolcott.
The funeral will be held on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013 at 9 a.m. from Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury to St. Lucys Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. with full military honors. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4 to 7 p.m.
