CARTHAGE — A 13-year-old Carthage girl suffered numerous scrapes and contusions when she was stuck by a vehicle at about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday near Stewart’s Shoppe, 32720 State Route 3.

State police said an Oswegatchie man was driving westbound about 500 yards east of Stewart’s when he struck the teenager, who was walking in the same direction. Police could not disclose identities of the victim and suspect Monday night, and an investigation is ongoing.

Police said the man was not speeding when the incident occurred. The speed limit at the area is 35 mph.

The teenager was transported to Carthage Area Hospital for treatment. Police said the injuries were not serious.
