NORFOLK A day of motorcycle riding around the county netted more than $2,000 for the Childrens Miracle Network.
The Norfolk American Legion Riders chapter held the charity ride July 13 and, by the time the day was over, it had raised $2,038, according to Royal Sheldon, charter president and now vice president of the American Legion Riders chapter, which is sponsored by American Legion Post 925.
This was the sixth year the group rode for the Childrens Miracle Network.
The chapter, which was founded in February 2005 and is the only American Legion Riders group in St. Lawrence County, consists of 40 male and female riders from the American Legion, Sons of the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary.
The ride covered 130 miles throughout St. Lawrence County, starting and finishing at the American Legion at the intersection of Route 56 and High Street.
