CARTHAGE To try to improve the downtown, the Carthage Industrial Development Corp. has applied for the Main Street Grant Program and committed matching funding.
In the past, the CIDC has obtained funding through the program to restore numerous buildings and sites downtown, including the 256-262 State St. project, the YMCA project and the Buckley Building restoration. The CIDC, at its July meeting, authorized up to $100,000 to be used in a revolving construction financing loan to make unsecured, no-interest construction loan financing to property owners awarded the Main Street grant funds.
Its a strong point of the program, CIDC member and village Economic Development Coordinator John F. McHugh said. Property owners do not have to obtain interim financing its less complicated.
Through a previous Streetscape grant, the village installed ornamental lights along State Street.
