Hosmer’s Marina carried its undefeated season to within one game of a perfect season in the Ogdensburg Women’s Softball Playoff action on Wednesday night.

Eliza Pierce anchored the defense from her rover position and rapped three singles and a double at the plate to lead a 12-9 win over a game Howie’s squad.

Howie’s and Buster’s Restaurant will meet on Monday with the winner advancing to the finals of the double-elimination tournament against Hosmer’s.

A second game if needed will be played on Thursday night.

Buster’s stayed alive with a 4-3 win over Nig’s Tavern on Wednesday.

“We have just a great team. Everyone on the team are good friends and we all play hard,” said Andrea Duvall speaking of the chemistry which has played a major role in the unbeaten run of Hosmer’s Marina. Duvall ripped a single, a triple and a double in Wednesday’s win which included a very deep offensive parade which also included a double and two singles by Taylor Jordan and two singles from Jackie Sullivan, Chelsea Bice, Jill Havens and Cheyenne Martin. Amanda Barr poled a double and Jen Dashnaw and Jordan Haven stroked singles.

Howie’s countered with an all singles offense which saw Nicki Sharpe collect three hits and Chelsea Martin, Hoobie McDonald, Jessica Denoncourt, Renee Lahue, Kenzie Stevenson, Heather Small and Nikki Renny all stroke two safties.

Kate McCarney and Alyssa Farrell each added singles.

Buster’s 4, Nig’s Tavern 3: A Nig’s Tavern rally fell short against Buster’s which held a 4-2 lead into the sixth inning before Nig’s scored once. For Buster’s, Ashley Baker and Barb Miller smacked a double and a single while Jessie Measheaw lined three singles. Emily Mitchell, Erica Bedford, Leanne Mullaney, Jamie Burwell, and Kaylee Bedford each singled twice. Gayle Gollinger and Kareen Bedford each singled.

Liza LaRock supplied three singles, Brittany Kenyon smacked two doubles and Austie Claxton ripped a double and a single for Nig’s. Stacey Kinney lined two singles while Kristie Farrell, Lori LaRue, Tabitha Small, Belinda DeLorenzo, Tabitha Small, Heather Small, Angie Caufield and Sara Measheaw each singled.
