Forty-seven vendors are lined up for the fifth annual North Country Wine, Beer and Food Festival on Aug. 10 and 11 at the Richard G. Lockwood Civic Center in Ogdensburg.
Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sandra M. Porter is reassured by that number.
Its about the same as last year, she said Wednesday, noting the high number of returning participants among the food, beverages and arts and crafts vendors who will be attending the festival.
But theres another number that Ms. Porter is just as enthusiastic about. And that is five, as in five years of successful, increasingly popular wine, beer and food festivals.
The way she sees it, the event is now established.
Everybody says if you make it to the first five years, you got it made, Ms. Porter said.
There is still plenty of room for more vendors. Vendors participating so far include 12 wineries from throughout Northern New York, among them River Myst Winery in Ogdensburg and in Jefferson County the Otter Creek and Coyote Moon wineries.
Theyre all coming back and theyre all within an easy hours drive from here, Ms. Porter said.
New businesses among the first-time attendees include the St. Lawrence Brewing Company of Canton and Bella Brook Vineyards of Black Lake.
Were really excited about having them, Ms. Porter said, adding that shes pleased to see the festival used as a showcase for new businesses.
Again, its local business that were happy to promote, she said.
Admission is $5 per person, with no charge for children under 12. Entrance is $4 for current military personnel.
