Robert Downey III only caught one fish at Saturdays Ogdensburg Seaway Festival Childrens Fishing Derby at the Greenbelt Docks.
But it created lifetime excitement as he hauled in a 23 Freshwater Drum to claim top honors.
The fish just stopped his pole dead. We had a real battle getting it in, said the young anglers dad Robert Downey Jr. It was his only fish but a what a fish. We had never seen that kind of fish before
Rounding out the top six who received trophies and new bicycles were: Sharon Szfranski with a 18 smallmouth bass, Mark Barr with a nice Walleye, Merrick Jackson with a 13 bass and Weston Bouchey and last years winner Maddox Haynes with bullheads.
Luke Whiteford won the Oddest Catch Award for landing a string of zebra mussels and Ella Bateman earned the Sportsmanship Award.
Angel Maroney and Julie Hooper coordinated the event which presented each child with a momento and members of the St. Lawrence Valley Sportsman Club handled the weigh-in duties and provided worms as bait for all of the anglers.
