The DPAO/Toyota/Car-Freshner Summer Concert Series has named country singer Charley Pride as the replacement for ailing performer Randy Travis, who is recovering from a stroke and cardio myopathy at a Texas hospital.
Mr. Pride, 75, will perform at 7 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds Arena.
Mr. Travis, who was scheduled to perform at the arena August 3, suffered a stroke while being treated for heart failure caused by a viral infection.
The Aug. 3 appearance in Watertown by Randy Travis was canceled by his management because of health concerns, according to a Disabled Persons Action Organization news release.
Mr. Travis was scheduled as the replacement for George Jones, who died in April after being hospitalized with a fever and irregular blood pressure.
Reserved and general admission tickets for the Charley Pride concert are on sale now by calling DPAO at 782-0044.
General admission tickets also are on sale at select Kinney Drugs locations.
Ticket prices are $49 and $45 reserved and $39 general admission.
Tickets for the George Jones and Randy Travis concerts will be honored for the Charley Pride show.
To receive a full refund, DPAO is asking all Randy Travis ticket holders to call its offices by July 26.
