CANTON — St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies on Thursday charged Martin K. Cooper Jr., 34, of 6258 Route 11, with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to keep right, leaving the scene of a property-damage accident and following too closely.

Deputies said Mr. Cooper was involved in a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident on Route 21 in Canton. He is accused of striking the rear of a vehicle on Route 21, then driving away before going off the road, disabling his vehicle.

Deputies said Mr. Cooper driver’s license had been suspended multiple times. He was issued tickets returnable to Canton Town Court.
