MALONE - The Ogdensburg Maples U10 Baseball team finished second at the Malone Moose Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

Ogdensburg lost 11-6 to Plattsburgh in the finals of the tournament after falling 9-6 to the eventual champions in its first game on Saturday morning and reeling off wins over Norwood 17-2, Massena 11-0, and Peru 10-7.

Plattsburg 9, Maples 6: Plattsburgh scored all itsruns in the first two innings keyed by Brandon Marsh(2 hits), Steven Cooley (2 Doubles) and Tyler Martin(3 singles).

The Maples scored two runs in the fifth and four in the sixth in a spirited rally. Braeden Free and Connor Griffith each had a double and a single and Bailey Benware added a triple.

Maples 17, Norwood 2: Bryce Lake and Jake Sharpe combined on 12 strikeouts in the one-hitter backed by 16 hits. Norwood’s lone hit was by Michael Belisle.

Maples 11 Massena 0: Connor Griffith and Braeden Free combined for a one hitter and Gavin Barney, Trent Sargent and Nate Jewitt all had timely hits. Massena was led by Darren Carpenter and Blake Covey.

Maples 10, Peru 7: Bryce Lake got the save striking out the side with the bases loaded to send The Maples to the championship game. Also coming up big was Kelson Hooper, Tristan Lovely and Braeden Free all with two out hits in timely fashion.

Plattsburgh 11, Maples 6: Brandon Marsh struck out six and had a double and two triples to lead Plattsburgh to the championship. The Maples comeback fell short but the effort was great through a driving rain storm according to Coach John Free. Connor Griffith, Braeden Free and Bryce Lake struck out 10 combined strokied two hits along with Jake Sharpe and Corbin Durham.
