NORWOOD — Have some extra lumber or leftover paint from that last renovation project? Maybe an extra sink or light fixtures?

Raquette Valley Habitat for Humanity is accepting donations for its third annual re-use sale.

The event is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Norwood Pavilion, 38 Maple St.

As in past years, a wide variety of items will be for sale at bargain prices, said JoAnne M. Fassinger, the organization’s vice president.

“It’s a hodgepodge of slightly used or new building supplies,” Mrs. Fassinger said. “We have a decent supply, but we’re always looking for more.”

All proceeds will go toward building the next Habitat house, on Cottage Street. The organization still is looking for a partner family interested in living in the home.

The first two sales were held at St. Mary’s School gymnasium, Canton. Each of those sales raised about $2,000 and drew roughly 200 people.

“Usually, we see contractors at the sale, or people doing renovations on their homes or camps,” Mrs. Fassinger said.

Tools, cabinets, plumbing materials, cabinetry, electric supplies, doors, windows and more have been available at past sales.

This year, the Northern New York Lumber Dealers Association donated a total of $750 worth of vouchers to the habitat organization. The vouchers can redeemed to purchase building materials and supplies.

Each of the following businesses contributed $250 in vouchers: J.C. Merriman Inc., Norwood, Bicknell Building Supply, Potsdam, and Johnston’s Building Materials Inc., Brushton.

Besides donations, the Habitat organization empties its storage trailer of unused construction materials to sell.

For those who have materials to donate, pickup can be arranged by calling 244-1335.Items also can be dropped off the morning of the sale at the Norwood Pavilion.
