GRANVILLE (AP) - Two men remain missing in Capital Region rivers, where heavy rains have caused treacherous currents.

Rescue crews from Warren and Saratoga counties have been searching the Hudson River at Lake Luzerne since Sunday evening after restaurant patrons videotaped a person going over Rockwell Falls on a small raft. The raft resurfaced without the man. The missing man has been identified by the Albany Times Union a Brian Crombie, 42, of Massena.

The search has been hampered by high water conditions.

In Washington County, police divers searched Monday and Tuesday but found no sign of 39-year-old Richard Kelley of Whitehall. He was swept underwater while swimming in the Mettawee River with his family Saturday.

The Post Star.com website reported Tuesday afternoon that forest rangers had deployed an airboat on the Hudson in an unsuccessful effort to recover the Massena man’s body.

The website said Hudson River levels were too high and turbulent from recent rains for divers to go back in the water Tuesday.

The Post Star.com said Cromie went over Rockwell Falls in a rented inflatable kayak/raft hybrid Sunday night. The newspaper’s website said police believe the men’s bodies are trapped in powerful hydraulic currents below waterfalls.
