The New York State Thruway announced construction projects will be suspended over the Fourth of July holiday to keep traffic moving.
Contractors will be allowed to perform only Thruway work that will not be disruptive over the holiday period. Construction will be suspended through 6:30 p.m. July 8 from Exit 29A at Little Falls to Exit 44 at Canandaigua. All 27 travel plazas along the Thruway will be open regular hours Wednesday.
More than 6.5 million vehicles traveled more than 216 million miles on the Thruway during last years Fourth of July holiday travel period, from June 30 through July 8.
