LISBON - The second annual High School Skills and Conditioning Soccer Camp has been scheduled for Aug. 12-16 at the three soccer fields on the Lisbon Central School complex.

Camp Director Bill Reed is delighted to announce that Massena Central School Girls Soccer Coach Ryan Hayes has joined the camp’s staff as the Goaltenders Coach. Hayes is a former All-Northern Conference keeper at Madrid-Waddington Central School who played in goal at SUNY Potsdam from 2001-2004.

He enhanced his skills by attending the Soccer Plus Goal Keeping School and is looking forward to working closely with young goaltenders at the High School Skills and Conditioning Camp. Since 2008 Hayes has established himself as an outstanding high school coach at Massena Central leading the Lady Raiders to a series of NAC Central Division and Section 10 Class A titles. “We are delighted to have Ryan Hayes as our goaltending coach. He has played the position at a very high level in high school and college and has proven himself as an outstanding high school coach and teacher of the game,” said Reed. “He certainly has a great deal to offer young goaltenders.”

The camp is open to both boys and girls and will hold a morning session from 8-11 a.m. for students in grades seven through 12 and an afternoon session from noon to 1:30 p.m. for students in grades three through six.

The session for students in grades 7-12 is a high school preseason skills and conditioning camp and will include goaltenders camp. The fee is $100 per camper.

The session for students in grades 3-6 will concentrate on basic skills and fundamentals and the fee is $50.

Both camps are sponsored by Howland Pump, Ogdensburg Pepsi Cola, Mort Backus, Radio station B99.3 and CBS Sports 1470 and will be limited to the first 120 paid registrants and the deadline for registration is Aug. 5. Last year’s camp sessions were both very successful and based on brisk registrations to date this year’s camp is expected to reach capacity.

Reed is also very happy to announce that Edwards-Knox Boys Soccer Coach Joe Knox will join the staff instructing for the grades 7-12. Knox joins Kelley Geary and Dickie Marcellus of the Lisbon Central Boys Soccer staff, Lisbon Girls Soccer Coach Scott Richardson, OFA Boys Soccer Coach Matt Morley, Colton-Pierrepont Boys Soccer Coach Jim Nee, Potsdam Boys Soccer Coach Al Benda, Canton Boys Soccer Coach Matt Caufield, Canton Girls Soccer Coach Greg Kiah and former Canton Boys Soccer Coach Roger Dusharm who is a member of the New York State Soccer Hall of Fame.

Instruction for the evening session for third through sixth graders will be provided by members of the Lisbon Central Boys and Girls Soccer coaching staffs. For more information on the camp email Bill Reed at billreed118@gmail.com or call Sue Houmiel at Lisbon Central (393-4951 extension 4)
