Watertown man faces six months for attempted sale of heroin

A Watertown man faces six months in jail and five years’ probation after admitting Wednesday in Jefferson County Court that he tried to sell heroin March 18.

Daniel L. Rivers, 22, whose last known address was 513 Mohawk St., pleaded guilty to third-degree attempted sale of a controlled substance May 1. He was sentenced Wednesday to six months at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and five years’ probation, and was ordered to pay $155 in restitution.

In other court activity, Leland G. Arnold, 48, Watertown, was sentenced to an unspecified amount of time served at the PSB and three years’ probation after a March 26 guilty plea to fourth-degree criminal mischief. He admitted that on Nov. 23 on Mill Street, he did $142 worth of damage to a pickup truck owned by Charles L. Pickett.

Brandy L. Fields, 44, Watertown, was sentenced to five years’ probation after pleading guilty to fourth-degree grand larceny May 3. She admitted that sometime from Feb. 24 to March 18 in the town of Lyme she stole more than $1,000 worth of property from Dale Goutremout. Police said she cashed three checks belonging to Mr. Goutremout. She was ordered to pay $1,700 in restitution.

Kevin F. Brennan, 56, Watertown, pleaded guilty to second-degree forgery. He was accused of making a false entry on a prescription form while acting as a nurse practitioner for the Mercy Primary Care Clinic. Police said Mr. Brennan falsely completed the prescription to obtain 48 Percocet pills May 2, 2012.

Derek A. Paine, 24, Watertown, pleaded guilty to third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance. He was alleged to have sold cocaine in late February.

In court Wednesday, Elizabeth G. Skinner, 45, whose last known address was 26138 Jewett Place, Calcium, was arraigned on one count of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. The charges were contained in an indictment unsealed in court.

It is alleged that she had and sold cocaine. She was held on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to return to court Aug. 6.
