The Ogdensburg Parks and Recreation Department’s Elsa M. Luksich Municipal Pool will be offering a variety of programs to the public this summer.

The following are swimming programs offered this summer:

SWIMMING LESSONS: Swimming lessons will be offered for all skill levels. The instructors are fully certified and will offer the standard Red Cross Program. Each child will be placed in a half hour time slot determined on the testing days. The lessons are for children 4-14 and will be held Monday through Friday from 8-11:30 a.m.

Testing and group assignments will be held June 26-28. Lessons will be held from July 1-Aug. 2 at a cost of $25.

INFANT/TODDLER SWIM: This aquatic program has been developed to acquaint infants and toddlers ages six-months to four years old to the water and as an introduction to the pre-school aquatics programs. Its goal is to make the children comfortable in and around water and introduce some safety skills.

The swimming companion will be taught how to utilize various holds and techniques to help the child get acclimated to the pool. There will be two swim instructors conducting classes and helping all the participants. Requirement: parent, guardian, babysitter or responsible adult must be willing to accompany child in the water. The swim will be held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to noon July 2-25 at the municipal pool. The fee is $12.

EARLY BIRD ADULT SWIM: This adult only program is held Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:15-7:15 a.m. and has begun. The cost is $65 a season or $3 a day.

WATER AEROBICS: Beginning July 9, every Tuesday and Thursday, Aqua-Aerobics will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the pool. This program will demonstrate various water exercises and routines to be worked on in groups or individually at their own pace. Water aerobics/exercise is a good form of passive resistance exercise eliminating the stress of weight-bearing activities on your body’s joints and musculature.

The cost of the program will be $5 a day or $35 a month and will run the entire summer.
