CANTON - The St. Lawrence Valley Paddlers held their first duathalon of the season on Wednesday. The run-paddle-run serids is held the third Wednesday of June, July, and August. Twenty-three competitors participated in the family friendly event Wednesday in teams or solo with canoes or kayaks.
The race consists of a 1.25 mile run on the cross country trail at St. Lawrence University, a paddle of approximately 1.5 miles on The Little River, and a repeat of the run in the opposite direction.

Our goal is to get people out enjoying the water through paddling said race director and SLVP member Steve Coffin.
The speediest finishers were the team of Emma Duffany and Gene Newman at 29 minutes and the fastest solo performance went to Phil LeMerche at 30:20.
