The owners of the local Servpro of Jefferson County franchise say they are doing such a brisk business they need more space in the Watertown Industrial Center.
And the Watertown Industrial Center Local Development Corp.s board of directors agreed on Tuesday to rent out additional space in Building A to the company, which moved into the Starbuck Avenue facility in 2008.
Were just out of room, co-owner Marylourdes L. Zegarelli told the board before it agreed to rescind an old lease for the space it now occupies in Building A and approve a 10-year lease for room that Junction Boyz had been using for storage.
Under the new lease, Servpro will pay $523 in monthly rent, or $2.25 per square foot. It must also pay for the construction needed for an office in the new space.
The emergency and safety services company is available around the clock to clean up messes from fires, sewer problems, water and storm damage and crime scenes. It employs nine workers. Some of its clients include Fort Drum, Madison Barracks, Fort Pike Commons and Purcell Construction Corp.
In the past six months, Servpro had contracts to clean up scenes from fires. Its most notable job was two years ago when it cleaned out the former HSBC bank branch that was damaged from a pipe bursting, causing four floors in the Washington Street building to flood.
It will be the third time Servpro will be moving into different space at the center since it began operating from there. In 2011, the company moved from one section of Building B to another because of a bad leak that kept it from using 600 square feet of space.
Co-owner Mark Zegarelli remembered when the company started in the garage of their Chaumont home.
