Azure Davey, a former Lowville Academy athlete, stepped down as SUNYAC commissioner last week to take a position with the NCAA.
Davey was hired as SUNYACs second commissioner last summer to replace the retired Patrick Damore.
Daveys final date as commissioner was to be determined by the conferences board of directors but was expected to be in early July.
In her year on the job, Davey oversaw the switch of the conference office site and instituted a conference-wide review of sport operating procedures.
Davey came to SUNYAC from the NCAA national office where she served in the Academic and Membership Affairs Department from 2006-12, primarily overseeing Division III schools. She will return to the national office as Director of Academic and Membership Affairs with a focus on Division I academics.
