COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Syracuse’s Jerami Grant is one of 16 finalists for the 2013 USA Basketball Men’s U19 World Championship team.

Grant, who will be a sophomore at Syracuse this season, made the initial cut after 26 players began tryouts earlier this week. The roster will be pared down to 12 before the squad departs Wednesday for three days of training at the Washington Wizards’ practice facility in Washington, D.C. The 2013 FIBA U19 World Championship will be June 24 through July 6 in Prague, Czech Republic.

Villanova’s Ryan Arcidiacono, Louisville’s Montrezl Harrell and Pittsburgh’s James Robinson were also picked.

“We had 26 really good players and all of the guys made the selection very difficult,” USA U19 and University of Florida head coach Billy Donovan said. “I think the things that stand out about this team is just the athleticism; the speed and quickness; the ability to defend and put pressure on people; and offensive rebound.’’
