CANTON — Peyton VanBibber scored three goals to lead the third-seeded Canton boys lacrosse team to a 12-2 victory over No. 6 Ogdensburg Free Academy in a Section 10 Class C quarterfinal game Monday.

The Golden Bears (11-5 overall) will travel to play No. 2 St. Lawrence Central in a semifinal game at 5 p.m. today.

Garrett Glasglow recorded two goals and two assists for Canton, and Jake Facey added two goals.

Ryan Huiatt, Jack Elberty, Josh Pierson, Issac Thrasher and Cody Moore all scored once. Andrew Roddy scored twice for OFA (2-13).

ST. LAWRENCE 14, COLTON-PIERREPONT 1

Cody Burns scored two goals and assisted on four others as the No. 2 Larries (13-2) beat the No. 7 Colts in a Class C quarterfinal in Brasher Falls.

Luke Arquiett added two goals and three assists for St. Lawrence Central. Cody Green scored the only goal for the Colts (0-16).

POTSDAM 10, SARANAC LAKE 7

Hayden Hart scored one goal and set up six others to help the No. 4 Sandstoners defeat the No. 5 Red Storm (4-12) in a Class C quarterfinal in Potsdam.

Potsdam (8-9) will travel to face top-seeded Salmon River in a semifinal game today at 5 p.m.

Garrett Kilgore scored three goals for Potsdam, and Steven Lewis and Kyle Grant each tallied two.

Seth Pickering led Saranac Lake with five goals and Jeff Stevens scored twice.

GIRLS LACROSSE

HEUVELTON 6, POTSDAM 5

Jackie Sovie scored three goals as No. 6 Heuvelton (4-12) upset No. 3 Potsdam in a Class C first-round game in Potsdam.

Heuvelton will travel to play No. 2 Canton at 5 p.m. Wednesday in a semifinal.

Olivia St. Pierre scored two goals for Heuvelton and Maddie St. Pierre also scored.

Ally Miller led Potsdam (11-6) with two goals. Hannah Drechsel, Jenny Tardell and Michaela Cole also scored for Potsdam.

SARANAC LAKE 10, OFA 9

Kalie Sappone scored her fourth goal of the game with 14 seconds left to lead the No. 4 Red Storm past the No. 5 Blue Devils in a Class C first-round contest at Saranac Lake.

The Red Storm (6-7) will travel to play top-seeded Massena in a semifinal at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Kylie Woodrow added three goals for Saranac Lake.

Nikki Holmes led the Blue Devils (6-11) with three goals, and Mackenzie Bresett and Kaitlin Sheppard each scored twice.

SECTION 3 GOLF

Alexandria finishes 2nd

Alexandria took second place in the Section 3 Class D Golf Championships held Monday at Twin Ponds Golf and Country Club in New York Mills.

The Purple Ghosts, which finished 19 strokes behind winner Utica Notre Dame, also had three qualifiers for the Section 3 Individual Championships, which begin Thursday at Seven Oaks Golf Club in Clinton.

Nik Shangraw led Alexandria with an 83, while Zach Heschke shot an 85 and Cameron Morgan an 86. Also qualifying for Thursday were Michael Bamann of Immaculate Heart Central with an 85 and Dan Leek from LaFargeville with an 87.

In the Class B event at Kanon Valley in Oneida, Pearce Parsons from South Jefferson shot an 83 to qualify for Seven Oaks. Also making the field was Jacob Wojasinski of General Brown with an 86.

Three Frontier League golfers made the qualifying cut at the Class C championships held at Barker Brook Golf Course in Oriskany. Nick Arrigo from South Lewis led the way with an 83, Jacob Baldwin of Thousand Islands fired an 84 and J. T. Smith from South Lewis shot 86.

Thousand Islands was sixth and South Lewis eighth in the team standings.

No local players qualified in the Class A event at Radisson Greens.
