SARANAC LAKE - As far OFA Boys Lacrosse Matt Morley is concerned his team’s 2-12 NAC record was deceiving.

“We played hard all season and we were in a lot of our games. We just had a tendency to make mistakes and not capitalize on offense,” said Coach Morley after the Devils dropped a 5-4 regular season-ending decision at Saranac Lake on Friday.

“We had some drops in man-up situations which hurt us but we also killed off a three-minute penalty. We played well enough to win.”

On Friday, both teams scored three times in the first period and then settled into a stalemate which was decided when Quinn Marquart of Saranac Lake scored his second goal of the day with 30 seconds to play.

Seth Pickering and Jeff Stevens both tallied one goal with one assist for the Red Storm who finished at 4-10.

Andrew Roddy tallied three goals for OFA, Nick Perrigo netted one goal with one assist and Jake Garrison and Austin Putman each passed out one assist to back a strong 15-save effort by goaltender Spencer Lawrence.

Mike Burpoe made eight saves for Saranac Lake.

OFA will open play in the Class C Section 10 Tournament by meeting Canton at 5 p.m. on Monday at SUNY Canton. Saranac Lake visits Potsdam and St. Lawrence Central hosts Colton-Pierrepont.
