The OFA and Norwood-Norfolk varsity softball teams surged to convincing road wins over NAC rivals on Thursday.

OFA 34, Potsdam 2 (5 innings): In a Central Division game played in Potsdam, the Blue Devils took early control with 12 runs in their first at-bat then put the game out of reach with a 16-run barrage in the second. Felicia Barr (5K, 2BB) went the distance for the win limiting Potsdam to just three hits. She also made lead offensive contributions with a homerun, single and four runs scored. Cheyenne Tyo doubled, homered and came around to score three times. Riley Luckie, Brittany Barr and Stacy Barr all doubled and scored four runs.

Kelsey Green and Jordan Emerson both doubled and came around to score as the Lady Sandstoners produced their only two runs in their first at-bat.

N-N 14, Madrid-Waddington 1: In an East Division contest in Madrid, the Lady Flyers (14-3, 11-3) gradually pulled away from a 5-0 third inning lead as Katie Ames struckout six, walked none and allowed four hits in the complete game win.

Carlea Weaver finished 3-5 with a triple and scored three times to spark the N-N offense. Mickey Frego went 3-5 with three RBI while Kirstin Barkley finished 2-3 and Katie Ames went 3-4 with an RBI. Courtney Wagstaff (2-4), Jorji LeBarge (1-4), Megan Stevenson (1-4 RBI), Cortney Harvey (1-5) and Aleah Palmer (1-4) also contributed.

Desiree Pryce connected for a single and scored in the fourth inning on Taylor Marcellus’s single to account for the lone M-W (5-10, 7-11 overall) run. Marcellus had two hits while Blair Cryderman also singled and took the loss with four strikeouts.

Other NAC East softball action on Thursday saw Colton-Pierrepont turn back Parishville-Hopkinton 10-4 and Brushton-Moira overpower Tupper Lake 18-1 while Canton finished off Central rival Gouverneur 9-2 in the completion of a suspended game and Edwards-Knox posted an 8-1 West Division win over Harrisville.

C-P 10, P-H 4: At Swift Field in South Colton, the Lady Colts jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning then broke the game open with a four-run rally in the sixth that put them ahead 10-1 before the Lady Panthers closed with three runs in the seventh.

Sabrina Johnson fanned eight and allowed two walks and six scattered hits in the win.

Andrea Aldous collected three singles for the Lady Colts. Morgan Doyle lined a single and plated two runs. Kathryn Miller added a single and two RBI. Kendra Gilbert, Kylie McKinley and Hailey Hennessy each stroked a single while Eve Whalen drove in a pair of runs.

Nicole White took the loss going five and one-third innings before leaving due to an injury. Kodi Perkins supplied a double and two singles in the losing cause while White, Marlee Wilson and Caitlin McGregor all singled.

B-M 18, Tupper Lake 1: B-M wasted little time in taking the lead against Tupper Lake, scoring two runs in the first and increased the advantage to 11-0 with a nine-run second which was highlighted by Arielle Gary’s bases-clearing triple. The Lady Panthers pushed their lead to 12-0 with a solo run in the third inning, with the Lumberjacks ruining the shutout bid with their lone run of the game in the bottom of the third.

Brushton-Moira salted away the win with a solo run in the fifth and put the game out of reach with a three-run sixth inning.

O’Connor paced B-M with a 4-for-5 performance with a double and four runs batted in. Gary finished the game with four RBIs, three on the bases-loaded triple and the fourth with a sacrifice fly.

Rachel Tower (RBI) and Megan DeBeer (4 RBIs) had three hits each while Jenna Dufrane, Kenzie Traynor and Micaela McCarthy (2 RBIs) finished with two hits apiece in the 17-hit offensive attack.

Malorie McLear took the loss for the Lumberjacks (0-14, 0-13 league), striking out two with four walks. McLear, Ari Bishop, Jesse Weigand and Amy Luton had one hit each for Tupper Lake.

Canton 9, Gouverneur 2: In Canton, the Lady Bears had built a 7-2 lead in the fifth inning of a game that began May 8 but was suspended due to weather conditions and quickly added a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth on Thursday to seal the win.

Beth Pearson pitched the first three innings and the last three innings to earn the win with Emma Rexford having worked the fourth inning. Mackenzie Rowe was tagged with the loss.

Pearson also played a lead role offensively going 3-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored. Janelle Sovay was 2-4 with three RBI and two runs scored while Rexford went 2-4 with a run scored and RBI.

Megan Cook singled twice in the losing cause. Danielle Bullock and Kortnee Bishop both singled and scored a run.

E-K 8, Harrisville 1: At Harrisville, Makayla Bacon fanned 15 batters, allowed three walks and five hits in a complete game win after allowing just one run in the first inning for the Cougars (7-5 NAC West, 9-6 overall) who scored three runs in the third and fifth against the Pirates (5-8, 5-10 overall).

Mackenzie Hall launched a triple. Dakota Bacon stroked two singles while Molly Burger, Harleigh LeBarge, M. Bacon, Sam Allison and Katrina Moore all singled for the winners.

Georgi Baker, Emory Matott, Sam Rounds, Megan McIntosh, and Brooke Canning each singled for Harrisville.
