DEKALB JUNCTION — A petition protesting this year’s assessment revaluation in the town of DeKalb will be turned in to the Town Council tonight.

DeKalb farmer Kenneth Masters said he and others have circulated the petition because assessments were inconsistent and some were raised much higher than others.

“We want the town board to overrule what the assessor has done,” Mr. Masters said.

The petition wants the town to use the 2012 roll accompanied by a uniform 5 percent increase on buildings and a 10 percent increase on land.

Last month, DeKalb Assessor C. Bruce Green said the revaluation was needed particularly because land values were lower than they should be based on sales.
