Morristown and Lisbon played to a split on Monday in Northern Athletic Conference West Baseball and Softball action as both schools are headed into their final week of competition.
In Baseball, the 9-3 Rockets scored nine runs in the sixth inning taking advantage of several errors in a 15-4 win.
On the softball diamond, number 20 state-ranked Lisbon (9-3) responded to Morristowns five run top of the second with six run bottom and posted five runs in the fourth for a 16-5 lead in a 16-8 win.
Heuvelton and Clifton-Fine contest on Monday was postponed until today while Hermon-DeKalbs games at Edwards-Knox will be played Monday, May 20.
Lisbon 16, Morristown 8: Alyshia Murray settled down after allowing five runs in the second inning keyed by her one swing of the bat. Murray belted a grand slam homerun to leftfield in a six run second inning and also singled and scattered eight hits in a five-strikeout complete game.
Alison Mitchell continued her stellar senior year suppling a double and three singles while Natalia Pitts, Alex Amo, and Sierra Dobbs each singled twice. Nicole Neadom and Katie Sovie each singled.
Taylor Piercey stroked three singles for Morristown (2-10). Margret Troiano and Jessica Geddes each singled twice while Liz Troiano added a single.
Morristown 15, Lisbon 4: A nine run sixth inning gave Bobby Simmons plenty of insurance in a complete game 10 strikeout, one walk, 10 hitter. Luke King continued his strong offensive season belting a homerun, a double and a single. Dakota Marshall stroked two singles while Devin Dulmage added a double. Jake VanArnam, Ryan Vollmer, and Jon Love all singled.
Alex Arduine supplied a triple for Lisbon (3-9) while Adam Kelley added a double and a single. Reilly Alberto chipped in two hits while Don Duprey, James Darcy, David Turri, Jon Hunter and Matt Willard each singled. Turri pitched also five innings for the Knights.
