The Jefferson County Board of Elections released a standardized nonpartisan designating petition form Tuesday to be used for all city of Watertown elections starting with the primary election in September.

The form was developed to standardize the process for candidates and conform to the laws that established the city’s nonpartisan election system in 1920.

“This form will be the standard designating petition distributed and accepted by the Jefferson County Board of Elections for gaining ballot access for the September primary election and the November general election,” officials wrote in a statement.

The form is available at the Board of Elections office on the Jefferson County Office Building’s fourth floor, 175 Arsenal St., and at http://co.jefferson.ny.us/index.aspx?page=62.
