POTSDAM - PWInsiders two-time reigning Independent Promotion of the Year 2CW will be making its debut in St. Lawrence County on Sept. 14 with an event being billed as Higher Education.
Kevin Parker, who is known in wrestling circles as Jack Trades for being the jack of all trades for the company, said 2CW officials are excited about coming to Potsdam.
When asked why the company decided to come to Potsdam Mr. Parker replied, Why not Potsdam?
We have heard good things about Potsdam, he said. Weve heard theres a lot of good wrestling fans in Potsdam.
While 2CW may be an independent wrestling company, they are one of the most respected wrestling promotions in the industry.
Were actually the number two promotion, behind obviously Vince McMahons WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment), but were ranked ahead of TNA (Total Nonstop Action) and Ring of Honor, Mr. Parker said, referring to the annual ranking of wrestling promotions released each year by PWInsider.
If you want comedy, good technical wrestling or hard core matches, weve got it all, he said. We give you everything that any professional wrestling fan could possibly want and thats why were the best there is in professional wrestling.
Since 2CW hosted its first show in 2006, the promotion has grown to the point where they are now broadcasting some events online.
Their first effort, at what Mr. Parker called an internet free for view, was April 20, the day after TNA hosted a wrestling show in Massena. That show, which included appearances by John Morrison, Spike Dudley and Matt Hardy was viewed online by more than 5,000 people and garnered the company world-wide attention.
We had 1,100 people at the show and trended both #1 and #2 in the world on Twitter, Mr. Parker said. TNA has never done that.
Should the companys debut event in Potsdam be a success, Mr. Parker said he would like to see 2CW host two or three shows in Potsdam each year.
Wrestlers scheduled to appear in Potsdam include former WWE Superstar and wrestling legend Matt Hardy, Independent Wrestling stars, Eddie Edwards and Kevin Steen, as well as Masada, an independent wrestler known as The King of the Death Match.
Weve also got a match that will blow the doors down, Mr. Parker said, referring to a scheduled bout between Slyck Wagner Brown and AR Fox. Thats an internet wrestling fans dream.
Front row ringside seats are available for $30 with general admission tickets available for $15. A meet and greet with Matt Hardy will be held prior to the show.
Tickets are available online at www.store.2cw.com.
