LOUDONVILLE — Rensselaer scored seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to blow open a close game and went on to defeat St. Lawrence University 8-0 in the opening game of the Liberty League baseball tournament on Thursday.

The Saints (20-16) will play Vassar College in an elimination game at 9:30 this morning, and if SLU wins it will play in another elimination game at 4:30 p.m. against either RPI or Union.
