POTSDAM - Both OFA and Potsdam used extended possessions to tally three goals apiece in the second half of Thursday night’s NAC Boys Lacrosse game on the Sandstoners’ turf field.

But the Stoners (6-5 NAC) took the quick-strike route to secure a 9-8 overtime victory as Hayden Hart scored his third goal of the game, off a quick cut in front of the net, just 36 seconds into the extra session

“We played well again today and had a great chance to win at the end. We had a man-up situation late in the game but we turned the ball over with 10 seconds to play,” said OFA Coach Matt Morley who will have his team at home on Monday to face undefeated NAC leader Salmon River which defeated Massena 19-6 on Thursday.

“Our offense and defense meshed well and we created good chances again tonight and Jake Garrison played extremely well. We just need to be more efficient in finishing. We have two regular season games remaining and then we start playoffs and I think we have a good shot to win a playoff game.”

Jake Garrison led OFA with three goals and two assists and Nick Perrigo (1 assist) and Andrew Roddy each scored twice. Nate Peo tallied one goal with one assist and Spencer Lawrence handled 15 saves in goal.

Steven Lewis joined Hart as a three-goal scorer for Potsdam which received two goals from Kyle Grant, one goal and one assist from Chad Varney, two assists from Cody Compeau and two assists from Garrett Kilgore.

Chase Palmer (4) and Jason Cardinal (6) combined for 10 Potsdam saves.
