ALEXANDRIA BAY — Historic Boldt Castle on Heart Island and the Boldt Yacht House across the St. Lawrence River on Wellesley Island will reopen Saturday for the tourist season.

Castle operators will reveal to visitors this year the newly renovated butler’s pantry — adjacent to the castle’s dining room and kitchen — featuring mahogany, glass-front cabinets displaying original Boldt family china and silver, among other items.

The castle’s original owner, George C. Boldt, left his mansion unfinished upon the death of his wife, Louise, but the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority has been renovating the attraction since acquiring Heart Island along with Mr. Boldt’s yacht house 36 years ago.

For more information, contact the castle at 482-2501 or visit www.boldtcastle.com.
