PARISHVILLE The academic leaders for the class of 2013 at Parishville-Hopkinton Central School are Dana Harper, valedictorian, and Jenna Converse and Shauna Wheeler, co-salutatorians.
Miss Harper, daughter of Dale and Robin Harper, Parishville, has an academic average of 95.73. She will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors and has completed requirements for majors in English, math, science, social studies, Spanish and visual arts. She is a member of National Honor Society, Student Council and Foreign Language Club. Miss Harper has volunteered for Northern New Yorks Special Olympics and participated in four school Follies productions and St. Lawrence Universitys Pi Mu Epsilon Math Competition during her sophomore and junior years. During junior year, she completed a course in music and American history since the jazz age through St. Lawrence Universitys Scholars Enrichment Program. Miss Harper will attend SUNY Oswego, where she received the Presidential Scholarship, to major in science and participate in their honors program.
Miss Converse, daughter of Cindy and William Converse, Hopkinton, has an academic average of 94.5. She will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors and has completed requirements for majors in mathematics, science, social studies, English and Spanish. She is a member of Student Council, National Honor Society, Foreign Language Club, mock yrial, yearbook, band, Backyard Geology Club and Project Challenge. Miss Harper has played on the soccer, basketball and softball teams since seventh grade and has made the Second Team All Northern for soccer. She will major in business at Paul Smiths College.
Miss Wheeler, daughter of Pamela Wheeler, Parishville, is graduating early with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors and has completed requirements for majors in mathematics, science, Spanish, social studies and English. She has been a member of Student Council, Special Olympics, church Youth Group, Relay for Life, National Honor Society, Musical Follies and Foreign Language Club. She also volunteers at Vacation Bible Study. Miss Wheeler will pursue a degree in the health care field.
