BRASHER FALLS - After closing out last week with a perfect five-inning win on the road over Tupper Lake, the St. Lawrence Central varsity softball team opened this week by pulling away to a convincing 15-3 NAC win at home over Parishville-Hopkinton on Monday.

Junior Lindsey Thayer, who pitched her first varsity career perfect game in a 23-0 win over the Lumberjacks where she fanned 11 of the 15 batters she faced, allowed just one run over the first three innings to pick up the win over the P-H. Kelsi Newtown gave up just two more runs over the final four innings in relief. Nicole White went the distance in taking the loss.

Noel Rufa sparked the SLC offense going 3-3 with three runs scored an an RBI as the Lady Larries carried a 6-3 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning where they broke the game open with a six-run rally. Haleigh Ganes was 2-3 with a three-run homerun, three runs scored an a total of four RBis. Chelsea Savage went 2-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored while Brandi Thomas singled twice and came around to score a pair of runs. Morgan Villnave, Tera Douglas and Breanna Vatter all singled and scored a run.

White singled and scored in the losing cause. Caitlin McGregor, Kodi Perkins and Mary Coventry had the other P-H hits while Cassara Cole and Marissa Paradis came home with the other runs.

The Lady Larries, now 11-2 overall and in sole possession of first place atop the North Division standings, are slated to host Tupper Lake today starting at 4:30 p.m. P-H is slated to host Norwood-Norfolk in a Wednesday twinbill starting at 4 p.m. at the Fireman’s Field.

In other NAC matchups on Monday, Norwood-Norfolk swept past St. Regis Falls by scores of 23-1 and 8-3, Colton-Pierrepont outlasted Madrid-Waddington 11-9 and Chateaugay beat Tupper Lake 20-3 in five innings.

C-P used an eighth-run surge in the third inning to open a 10-0 lead and eventually went ahead 11-1 before the M-W generated the final eight runs of the game and sent the potential tying run to the play in the seventh inning before falling short.

Sabrina Johnson fanned 10, walked four and limited M-W to just three hits in notching the win. Morgan Doyle belted a two run homerun while Eve Whalen singled twice and Kylie McKinley doubled. Hailey Hennessy chipped in a single.
