CHAMPION — Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies charged Paul R. Knox, 43, of 25080 Woolworth St., with second-degree criminal contempt after he allegedly violated a stay-away order of protection.

Deputies said Mr. Knox on Saturday morning entered the residence of his wife and children on Patricia Drive, LeRay, in an attempt to talk his wife into dropping the order against him, which he violated during the encounter.

Mr. Knox, who turned himself in to deputies at 10:40 a.m. Saturday, was sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $1,500 bail and given an appearance for the LeRay Town Court.
